Director of Football, Te Atatū AFC

Strategic leadership

• Work with the Executive Committee to build and execute a strategic football plan that takes the club to the next level, with clear pathways for both community and competitive football

• Develop and lead the club's football strategy across junior, youth, senior, women's and inclusive football

• Create, document and embed a club-wide playing philosophy across every team

• Progress the pathway and accreditation work required for Talent Development Programme (TDP) accreditation

• Manage the club's relationships with Northern Region Football and New Zealand Football, and maintain compliance with their frameworks

Coaching the Men's First Team

• Take head coach responsibility for the Men's First Team, covering selection, training, match day and player management

• Commit to Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturdays during the season

• Set the standard for how football is coached at this club, in a way the rest of the club can see and follow

Coach support and development

• Lead the recruitment, mentoring and support of coaches at every level of the club

• Deliver coach development workshops and structured session frameworks so our volunteer coaches are backed, not left to figure it out alone

• Ensure every team has an active, supported coach

Player development and pathways

• Build clear playing pathways for both social and competitive levels of play

• Oversee talent identification, player development and retention across the club

• Provide strategic oversight of the girls' and women's football pathway and inclusion programmes such as Fantails, and grow female participation

• Oversee pre-season selection across all grades and support senior coaches with team selection

Community engagement

• Build and maintain active relationships with local schools

• Deliver open days, pre-season musters, club tournaments and holiday programmes

• Represent the club at community events, meetings and networking opportunities

What we're looking for

Essential

• Relevant New Zealand Football or Northern Region Football coaching qualifications, or the ability to obtain them within an agreed timeframe

• Coaching experience at a senior level, with the credibility to lead a first team

• Experience developing coaches and players, not just teams

• The ability to work with a volunteer committee: bringing ideas, listening, and then delivering

• Strong communication skills across a wide range of people, including players, parents, volunteers, sponsors and regional bodies

• A current Police vet, and a clearance under the Children's Act 2014 where required

• Availability for evening and weekend work. This is a football club, and that's when football happens

Highly regarded

• Experience in a Director of Football, Technical Director or equivalent club-wide leadership role

• Experience building junior-to-senior pathways in a community club setting

• Experience with TDP or similar accreditation processes

• Knowledge of the Auckland and Northern Region football landscape

• Experience supporting girls' and women's football
